Surly hubs are aluminum and have medium height flanges which spin on high load. They are perfectly sealed and have adjustable cartridge bearings over standard-sized axles (9x1mm front, 10x1mm rear). They’re quite easy to find if you want to change out axles. These Surly hubs have adjustable bearings so you can adjust play as they wear – your constant replacing days are over! You’ll save money on having to buy completely new hubs. What else could you ask for? These are the ones you need. Get em and rock em!

Surly Hub Fitting

Surly bikes are spaced equally at 100mm (in the front) so they can fit most any fork. The spacing in the back is a bit varied; the rear Surly hub widths are 120, 130, and 135mm. This is an important step. You need to make sure the spacing is correct for your bike. It's a well oiled machine, so treat it like one.

Surly Hub Variations

Surly offers a few different types of hubs to suit different riders.  Some of the hubs offered by Surly are disc-based with single-speed freewheel threading. They usually contain 32-holes, though some may come with 36 holes. The threading is also usually located on the drive side, but there are some that have freewheel threading on both sides (English 1.37x24tpi). In the fixed gear range, they have freewheel threads on one side and fixed gear/locking threads on the other (1.37x24tpi and 1.29x24tpi LH respectively). They come in either silver or black. The color you select should go with the overall look you're going for. In some cases silver is the way to go. In others, the black is the way to go.
